Subsequent 660 nm laser irradiation drives EB to produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) and destroys the cell membranes of these bacteria, leading to the release of catalase and subsequent degradation of hydrogen peroxide to produce oxygen. Increased oxygen levels may alleviate intratumoral hypoxia, thereby enhancing BP QD-mediated photodynamic therapy.
