Magnetoelectric nanoparticles drive TAF9B+ TH2 cell expansion to alleviate inflammation 

Research Concept 

This work designs and constructs biomimetic magnetoelectric nanoparticles. With dendritic cell membrane coating for CD4⁺ T cell targeting, the nanoparticles modulate ribosomal function under an external magnetic field, initiate TAF9B-dependent transcriptional programs, boost TH2 cell expansion and consequently mitigate inflammatory responses.

Highlights

• Remote regulation of CD4⁺ T cell fate is achieved using magnetoelectric nanomaterials for the first time
• A new mechanism is uncovered: magnetoelectric stimulation modulates protein translation through electrostatic interactions at ribosomes
• TAF9B is identified as a key molecule responsible for magnetoelectric-nanomaterial-mediated TH2 polarization
• This strategy can rebalance immunity and ameliorate pathological changes in autoinflammatory models
